The IPL photofacial is the gold standard in treating sun damage and hyperpigmentation. At Bawa Medical, we are proud to offer effective IPL treatments for men and women in Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, and the surrounding South Florida communities.
What Is an IPL Photofacial?
With the use of the most advanced intense pulsed light (IPL) technology, the ELOS Plus system, all it takes is approximately two to six treatments to see a reduction in pigmented lesions such as freckles, sun spots and melasma, or vascular lesions such as spider veins, red spots, or rosacea. The ELOS Plus system can also provide patients with a reduction in fine lines and pore size.
IPL technology is an advanced laser treatment that targets hyperpigmented cells to improve sun damage, skin tone and texture, and visible veins.
IPL, or intense pulsed light, offers many advantages:
- It improves the texture of the skin
- Skin color and skin tone are evened out
- It stimulates collagen, leading to a rejuvenation of the skin
- It leaves skin looking younger and tighter
- IPL photofacial for acne can reduce breakouts and the appearance of acne scars
How Much Does IPL Treatment Cost in Boca Raton?
The cost of an IPL photofacial depends on many factors, including the size of the treatment area and the number of sessions you need to see the best possible results. To find out your individual cost, schedule a consultation at Bawa Medical so we can create a tailored treatment plan to help you reach your aesthetic goals and enjoy your best skin yet. We accept many payment options, plus financing through CareCredit®.
Who Is an Ideal Candidate for IPL Photofacial?
The best candidate for IPL photofacial treatment would be someone who is suffering with rosacea, a fairly common skin condition afflicting the face, or someone with sun damaged skin or uneven skin tone. In the past, IPL treatments were not appropriate for darker skin tones due to a risk of pigment changes—but the ELOS Plus system is designed to protect your skin during treatment and may be used on all skin types and shades.
What Is Recovery Like After an IPL Photofacial?
Following the IPL photofacial procedure, you can expect the areas that were treated to turn a pinkish-red color and you may experience slight swelling. This should, however, fade within 24 hours.
You may also notice pigmented spots or lesions becoming darker and more prominent than they were before. This is nothing outside of the norm and it’s a sign that the treatment is working. It’s quite common for freckles and age spots to appear darker for around three to seven days. You may also see some crusting, which can last for as long as 10 days. After a few days have passed, you may also see new brown blemishes appearing on the skin, sometimes even raising. These blemishes will flake off by themselves in the coming days.
