IPL Photofacial

IPL Photofacial in Boca Raton

The IPL photofacial is the gold standard in treating sun damage and hyperpigmentation. At Bawa Medical, we are proud to offer effective IPL treatments for men and women in Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, and the surrounding South Florida communities.

What Is an IPL Photofacial?

With the use of the most advanced intense pulsed light (IPL) technology, the elōs Plus® system, all it takes is approximately two to six treatments to see a reduction in pigmented lesions such as freckles, sun spots and melasma, or vascular lesions such as spider veins, red spots, or rosacea. The elōs Plus® system can also provide patients with a reduction in fine lines and pore size.

IPL technology is an advanced laser treatment that targets hyperpigmented cells to improve sun damage, skin tone and texture, and visible veins.

IPL, or intense pulsed light, offers many advantages:

  • It improves the texture of the skin
  • Skin color and skin tone are evened out
  • It stimulates collagen, leading to a rejuvenation of the skin
  • It leaves skin looking younger and tighter
  • IPL photofacial for acne can reduce breakouts and the appearance of acne scars

Who Is an Ideal Candidate for IPL Photofacial?

The best candidate for IPL photofacial treatment would be someone who is suffering with rosacea, a fairly common skin condition afflicting the face, or someone with sun damaged skin or uneven skin tone. In the past, IPL treatments were not appropriate for darker skin tones due to a risk of pigment changes—but the elōs Plus® system is designed to protect your skin during treatment and may be used on all skin types and shades.

What Is Recovery Like After an IPL Photofacial?

laser treatments before and after

Following the IPL photofacial procedure, you can expect the areas that were treated to turn a pinkish-red color and you may experience slight swelling. This should, however, fade within 24 hours.

You may also notice pigmented spots or lesions becoming darker and more prominent than they were before. This is nothing outside of the norm and it is a sign that the treatment is working. It is quite common for freckles and age spots to appear darker for around three to seven days. You may also see some crusting, which can last for as long as 10 days. After a few days have passed, you may also see new brown blemishes appearing on the skin, sometimes even raising. These blemishes will flake off by themselves in the coming days.

Ready to see your skin looking its best and brightest? Bawa Medical is proud to offer IPL photofacials to treat sun damage, age spots, skin laxity, poor skin texture, and other skin concerns with dramatic results. Call us today to schedule your appointment for an IPL photofacial near me.
