What Methods of Lip Augmentation can I Choose From?

Lip Fillers (Restylane® Kysse™ & Restylane® Silk™) for Lip Augmentation
Dermal fillers are an excellent way to add or restore volume to thinning lips. Restylane®, Dr. Bawa’s preferred lip filler, has a higher viscosity than most dermal fillers used in lip augmentations. Restylane® is made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural substance found in your body that keeps your skin full, plump, and hydrated. When HA fillers are injected into the lips, it provides an increase in volume that you can see immediately.
Dr. Bawa’s preferred lip fillers are:
- Restylane® Kysse™- The first lip filler designed with XpresHAn Technology™ for flexible facial movements and natural-looking volume. Considered by many to be the gold standard of in lip fillers, Restylane® Kysse™ offers many benefits, some of which include subtly enhancing the fullness of the lip body and adding definition to the border to create soft and beautiful lips. Kysse™’s innovative XpresHAn Technology ™ provides volumizing properties allowing the filler to seamlessly plump out the lips, with the sensation and appearance like nothing has been injected.
- Restylane® Silk™- The first FDA-approved filler specifically created for lip augmentation and the smoothing of wrinkles around the mouth.

Your lip fillers will gradually diminish over time, usually 9-12 months. You will want to maintain your augmented lips, and you should schedule a follow-up appointment when you notice the volume begin to decrease. Dr. Bawa will rejuvenate you with a fresh round of lip injections.
Botox® Lip Flip for Lip Augmentation
If you are interested in enhancing your lips but do not like the look or feel of fillers, you might consider neuromodulator injections (like Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin®) in a quick procedure called a “Botox® Lip Flip.” This procedure is a great alternative to fillers for patients who want a more subtle lip enhancement and those who wish to enhance the shape of their lips with minimal effort. While “Botox® Lip Flip” is the commonly used name for this procedure, Dr. Bawa prefers Dysport® and Xeomin® over Botox® for their superior qualities.
As the name implies, the Botox® Lip Flip involves using neuromodulator to enhance both the upper and lower lip. Just a few quick injections can help the lip relax and roll slightly upward, allowing more of the lip to be visible. Like Botox®, Dysport® and Xeomin® are neuromodulators, which means that they temporarily relax the muscle in which they are injected. This causes that slight roll upward of the lip that makes it appear more lifted and defined. Neuromodulator lip injections can also help smooth vertical lines around the lips.
Most patients notice the effects within a few days of treatment, with full results in about one week.
How Are Lip Injections Performed in Boca Raton?
Most commonly performed as an in-office procedure lasting no longer than 30 minutes, the lip injection procedure starts with an anesthetic applied to the lips to make the procedure as comfortable as is possible. Your physician will then mark exactly where the dermal filler will be injected in strategic locations to achieve beautiful and natural results. The injections themselves aren’t painful. The results of the lip injection procedure will be determined by exactly where in the lips the injections will take place, and exactly how much of the filler is injected. Anyone who has experienced volume loss in their lips due to age or those who have always had naturally thin lips are great candidates for lip injections. However, women or men seeking a (delete) fuller, firmer, more contoured pout lips also make great candidates. What Can I Expect?

You should see your results immediately after your procedure. With zero downtime associated with lip augmentation, you are free to resume your normal activities as soon as you leave our office.
What to Expect During Lip Augmentation Recovery
There are minimal aftercare instructions and side effects for both Restylane® lip fillers and neuromodulator Lip Flip procedures. You will see the preliminary results of your lip filler injections right away following the procedure; however, there will be some amount of mild swelling that will need some time to subside.
Boca Raton Lip Augmentation FAQ
Restylane® lip injections tend to last around 9 to 12 months on average. You can turn to regular maintenance injections as needed to sustain the results of your procedure. If you ever decide you are unhappy with the results, hyaluronic acid fillers can also be reversed with the use of an enzyme called hyaluronidase. We have yet to have to reverse lip filler on a single patient. Our patients love their results.
